An archaeological assessment of a proposed commercial development at Ratoath, Co. Meath, was carried out on 18 August 1997. The site of the proposed development lies to the north-west of a motte and bailey (SMR 44:7) and to the south-west of a church site.
Two test-trenches were excavated by machine under archaeological supervision. The trenches did not reveal any evidence of archaeological stratigraphy. The boulder clay was visible very close to the surface and rises to the north of the site. No features were evident in either of the trenches and the finds were of modern date.
