Archaeological monitoring on the Westport Water Supply Scheme, Cloonkeen Extension, was undertaken. One item of archaeological importance (a bullaun stone) was uncovered during monitoring of topsoil removal.
The bullaun stone was uncovered in the townland of Kilbree Lower, east of SMR 88:20, an enclosure, and south-west of SMR 88:22, the site of several burials. A disused well is located in the field where the stone was found.
The bullaun is of sandstone and measures 0.88m x 0.84m x 0.3–0.41m thick. The depression in the stone measures 0.4m x 0.4m and varies in depth from 0.1m to 0.22m. Traces of the toolmarks which created the depression in the stone can still be seen.
