The site is located to the rear of buildings fronting onto the east side of Park Street, within the area of the late medieval suburb of ‘Upper Quarter’. The development consisted of a 16m by 5m extension to an existing building. Three test-pits, each measuring 1m2, were excavated by hand to a depth of 0.8m, which was the level due to be disturbed by the development. The test-pits revealed deposits of rubble and industrial waste of 18th- to 20th-century date.
