The site, located within the medieval walled town, close to the southern end of the Irishtown, was tested in advance of development for local authority housing. Four cuttings were opened by mechanical digger close to the street frontage, none of which yielded any deposits of archaeological interest. It would appear that there had been considerable interference with the site in the 18th/19th centuries.
