Two trial-trenches were opened at this site, a circular mound 22m in diameter. One trench, dug across the sloping bank, revealed an infilled ditch 3.6m wide and 1.2m deep. The second trench, in the interior, revealed a gravel surface of small stones upon which was found a copper-alloy dress-pin. The pin, 80mm long and 4mm in diameter, had no decoration and a simple nail head. It has been dated to the 12th–13th century.

It has yet to be decided if further excavation will take place.
