In the course of monitoring the groundworks for the new building, two further trenches were cut across the line of the ditch mentioned in the earlier report (Excavations 1996, 64). No further dating evidence was recovered from the ditch. Its line was seen to continue eastwards for a further c. 8m, but it is not clear if it continued any further. At the eastern edge of the site there had been some previous levelling of the area which may have removed part of the line. No other features were noted.
