This site was excavated in advance of the Croom bypass project. It was identified from aerial photographs and appeared to consist of two converging low banks. Topographical survey showed it to be a triangular raised area, bounded on one side by a former stream bed.
One cutting was excavated. The sod overlay dark brown soil to a depth of approximately 0.15m below the surface. Below this was a layer of light brown silty soil 0.73m thick, which in turn overlay whitish clay. There were no finds except for modern material in the topsoil.
