Monitoring of foundation trenching was a condition of planning permission granted by Kildare County Council. The site is within an area of archaeological potential but there are no discrete monuments marked for this area. There is a local tradition of a burial-ground in the field to the north of the development site.
Over the site, the topsoil was generally 200mm deep. The underlying subsoil was a grey/brown sandy clay with very small chips of broken stone; there were occasional large boulders. Nothing of archaeological interest was observed.
