Archaeological monitoring of refurbishment work at Blake's Tower took place from December 1996 to March 1997. In the course of the monitoring, two medieval windows were unblocked, medieval walls were cleaned and limewashed in an approved manner, and a trench was excavated on Kirwin's Lane to facilitate the installation of ESB cables. No archaeological material was recovered from this trench.
