Archaeological monitoring of the construction of a gas pipeline which runs between an existing Above-Ground Installation (AGI) at Suir Road, Dublin, and a new AGI at the Guinness Brewery, Watling Street, Dublin, took place in August and September 1997.
No evidence was found for the medieval aqueduct (SMR 6:28) recorded as running northwards from the intersection of Dolphin's Barn Street and Reuben Street before turning north-east and running towards the intersection of St James' Walk and Forbes' Lane. Stratigraphy in the pipe trench was uniform throughout the length of the pipeline. At no stage along the route was there any evidence for archaeological deposits or structures.
