Archaeological monitoring and excavation were carried out over a period of seven weeks. A number of sand, gravel and organic deposits were recorded. A number of timber ramparts and vertical timber posts were also noted. Post-medieval pottery (sgraffito, Frechen/Bartman and local Dublin wares), clay pipes, leather shoe fragments, a book cover, animal bone and a shroud pin were also recovered.
The timbers identified are reused, primarily oak beams, forming a rampart possibly of 17th-century date. A similar north-south-aligned rampart was recovered during excavations carried out by L. Simpson on an adjacent property.
The deposits appear to represent post-medieval reclamation activity in the area.
