An archaeological assessment of a proposed development at 19 Castle Street, Dalkey, Co. Dublin, was carried out on 21 March 1997. The site lies on the north side of Castle Street, not far from the reconstructed Dalkey Town Hall and the tower known as Archbold's Castle.
Two test-trenches were excavated in the area of the proposed development to the depths of 1.1m and 1.5m respectively. They did not reveal any evidence of archaeological stratigraphy. It was apparent that the ground was very disturbed and was quite possibly made up in recent times. Boulder clay was exposed to the south of the site at a depth of 1.1m.
