A report of curious grass circles by a farmer on the Ards Peninsula initiated a small-scale investigation.

A 5m-long trial-trench was cut across two of the more unusually shaped marks but, though several ploughmarks were identified, no archaeological source for the grassmarks was discovered. They were determined to be fungal in origin.
