An assessment excavation was carried out ahead of the construction of a substation by Northern Ireland Electricity on a west-facing hillside on Island Magee.
Twenty-four test-pits and eight larger trenches were dug, from which many worked flints were recovered. A ditch of unknown date was located in a trench near the top of the site, but no other features of potential archaeological significance were found.
