Three trenches were opened across low banks visible on site in a fairly wet, marshy field, as part of the Nenagh Bypass assessment. Two trenches confirmed the presence of ploughed-out man-made banks constructed from sand, 0.3–0.45m high and 6.5–7m wide, both of which lay directly on top of the natural white clay marl. Both banks investigated were heavily flecked with charcoal and had suffered considerably from ploughing, both being much wider and more truncated than as originally constructed. However, nothing datable was recovered from either of the banks and their date and function at this stage remain unclear.

A third trench in the south-east corner of the field cutthrough low rises and dips, all of which were geological in origin.
