The remains of a post-medieval field enclosure and associated drainage system were uncovered in this assessment. A rectangular field, which was identified in local oral tradition as the paddock associated with 'Tullahedy Old House' (see Excavations 1996, No. 381), was defined on two sides by a low rounded bank a cutting 8m long by in wide was placed across this bank on its south-eastern side.

The bank had been constructed from the upcast from an external ditch and stood 0.5m above the internal level of the field. The ditch had been dug into mottled sandy clay, was a maximum of 1.92m wide and had a maximum depth of c. 0.94m. A substantial stone-built drain was found in the base of the ditch below upper fills of brown sandy silt and subangular stones. It was constructed in the drystone technique, using uncut subangular limestone blocks to form two parallel walls, approximately 0.4m apart at the base and 0.3m apart at the top; the walls were each approximately 0.4m high. The gap between the tops of these walls was covered by a number of flagstones, forming a covered channel in the base of the ditch. The only finds came from the upper fill of the ditch and were entirely post-medieval in date.
