Archaeological testing of a proposed extension to the rear of an EBS office at 17/18 Park Street, Dundalk, was carried out in December 1996. The site lies within the medieval suburb of ‘Upper Quarter’ or ‘Upper End’ at the south end of the walled medieval town.

Three trenches were excavated. An examination of the trenches revealed that the top 0.5m of ground was disturbed owing to modern activity. Below this the natural gravels were exposed. No finds or features were recovered from this site and it is of no archaeological significance.
