Excavations were carried out here in advance of construction.
Initial monitoring and subsequent test excavations had resulted in the recovery of sherds of possibly medieval green-glazed pottery.
A trench 2.6m x 26.3m was hand-excavated through the centre of the site. The mechanical excavation of sixteen foundation platforms was monitored.
Archaeologically significant material was recovered from the southern portion of the site within a black organic layer 0.35m deep. Modern foundations and a truncated, possibly post-medieval linear feature were recorded. Several sherds of possibly post-medieval pottery and a small quantity of animal bone were also recovered.
