This project began in mid-November 1996 and will continue into 1997. It involves the monitoring of topsoil-stripping in advance of the development of the N8 extension of the Portlaoise Bypass and is being undertaken by Archaeological Services Unit Ltd on behalf of V.J. Keeley Ltd. It is taking place along a 1.5km-long corridor of land in Clonaddadoran townland, approximately 2 miles south of the town of Portlaoise.
With approximately half of the area stripped to date, nothing of archaeological significance has been uncovered.
