Archaeological investigation took place at Oakley Park, Celbridge, adjacent to the medieval monastery of Kildrought.
Two conjoined trenches were mechanically cut, extending the full length of the area of the proposed development. The areas tested corresponded to the line of the foundation trenches for the proposed housing on this portion of the site. In all cases these were cut to reveal the underlying natural deposits.
Although a possible stone axehead was recovered from field-walking in the vicinity of the trenches, no archaeological artefacts or features were revealed and in no cases were deposits of archaeological significance encountered. This site can thus be considered as having been archaeologically resolved.
