Archaeological assessment was carried out over the area of a proposed development. Four cuttings were opened on a west-east alignment. In the two western ones, below the rubble, there was evidence of a thin spread of burnt material with associated slag, a possible quernstone and one sherd of medieval pottery, all of which were located at the eastern end of Cut 1.
As the foundations and floor level of the proposed development were altered so as to avoid interference with this spread, no further work was carried out.
