This investigation took place ahead of dredging operations in an area where a large wooden beam, possibly a ship's timber, had been reported resting on the seabed.
Two circular searches were carried out but failed to detect any sign of the timber. A grid was laid out over the probable site area, and two trenches, 1m wide and deep, were excavated, using a diver-operated airlift. No archaeological remains were uncovered, and it was concluded that it had been a solitary timber which subsequently had been washed away.
