This site is located on the grounds of the former Presentation Convent just north of (outside) the line of the town wall. Seven test-trenches were excavated to test the area prior to development. Five produced nothing of archaeological interest. A possible ditch was exposed in the remaining two trenches, which were located just south of the existing convent building, in the west of the site. It underlay topsoil, c. 1m below the present ground level; it was approx. 8m wide at the top, 1m deep and at least 12m long east-west. The fill was silty with a high organic content; a leather shoe, of possible medieval date, was the only find. The function of this feature was not clear.
