An archaeological assessment was carried out on a proposed development site at the Park St. Enterprise Centre, Dundalk, outside the main archaeological area of Dundalk but within the zone of archaeological potential identified by the OPW Urban Archaeological Survey. It was thought that the line of the 'rampart' might be reflected by the present eastern site boundary but this was found not to be the case. Four long intersecting test-trenches were opened to cross the site. The soil profile indicated that up to 1m of fill had been dumped on the marshy ground which extended from a point 25m from the Park St. frontage as far back as the Rampart River. No archaeological features or deposits were encountered.
