This site, formerly a coalyard, measured 91m north-south with a street frontage of 66m on Mill St. to the north and a street frontage of 51m on Seatown Place to the south. In close proximity to the development stood the sites of Moyle Castle, a tower house, and Seatown Mill, a medieval watermill on the Rampart River. The investigation concerned only the northern half of the site; the southern half is to be assessed at a later date.

The test-trenches exposed natural sand and gravel within 0.3m of the present ground surface in most places. Towards the eastern side of the site an area of old topsoil containing post-medieval pottery extended to a depth of 0.8m. At the western margin of the site a small lime-kiln was uncovered excavated into the gravel. The bowl or furnace was unlined but two flues were stone-built. A probable third flue in an area not available for excavation would give the lime-kiln a 'Y' shape. Three sherds of pottery from the backfill of the flues indicated a 13th-14th-century date for the kiln.
