The foundation of an extension to an existing building was excavated by machine under supervision. This was done in three sections along the line of the proposed extension, to a depth of 0.6m only. A spread of mixed brown soil overlying a redeposited pocket of boulder clay was the only non-building rubble deposit noted and appeared to have been upcast from the insertion of a pipe.
