Preliminary archaeological assessment was carried out at the rear of the courthouse at Naas, to which an extension was proposed. A total of four small test-trenches were opened on the site using a 'mini' excavator. Archaeological deposits were revealed, with pottery dating from the 13th–14th century.
Additional archaeological investigation awaits site clearance of the existing buildings to establish the full nature of the archaeological deposits and their derivation.
