Archaeological testing was carried out on the above site during the period 24 February–4 March 1995. The site occupies an area roughly rectangular in shape, aligned north-south, extending to the river bank at the northern end.

Beneath the covering of sod and loose stones which overlay most of the area, a layer of ploughsoil was encountered. This layer varied from 0.2m to 0.8m in thickness and contained some stone as well as delph and clay pipe fragments. This ploughsoil directly overlay the natural boulder clay, which was tested to a depth of not less than 0.45m at any point. The average depth of the cuttings was between 1.4m and 1.8m. The southern end of the area tested had been used as a dump for refuse in recent times and here the natural deposits had been deeply cut into.

No artefacts, features or deposits of archaeological significance were revealed in the area examined.
