This assessment was carried out on 15 March 1995. A single trench was opened on the small site by machine. Subsoil was reached at a depth of 5.5m below street level. Brown earth, containing mid- to late 17th-century pottery sherds, overlay subsoil to a depth of 1.5m. Cellar fill overlay the brown soil.
The assessment indicated that reclamation of this area occurred in the post-medieval period, prior to the construction of houses here in the early 18th century.
