Archaeological assessment of the site was carried out on 6 June 1995.
Two machine trenches cleared the rubble overburden to subsoil. This occurred at approx. 2m below street level. No archaeological features were noted, and this accords with the evidence recorded from a number of adjacent development sites. It appears, therefore, that the site lies some distance south of the putative ecclesiastic enclosure indicated in the street pattern by Peter Row/Bow Lane.
