On 12 December three trenches were cut by machine on a large development site in the angle of the Burrin and Barrow rivers. In all trenches 2m of deliberately dumped material overlies gravel of the old riverbed (in situ) of the Burrin. The dumped material is associated with the construction and use of post-medieval mills (one standing, one demolished).
