As this development site is located in the south-west corner of the medieval town, at a point where the town wall might be located, testing was required by the planning authority.
The site was disturbed by gas and other pipes. Three pits were found in the longest test trench which produced post-medieval finds. There was no evidence for medieval or earlier activity on the site.
