The site was located to the south of the school which abuts a church (in ruins) and graveyard on the south side of Church St. It was planned to build an extension to the school.

Ten trenches were opened with a machine. In six of these, located in the field, there was c. 0.5m of topsoil and humus overlying natural clay. Of the four located in the playing court east of the existing building, only one was of any depth with 0.3m of redeposited (modern) fill overlying 0.7m of humus.
