During fieldwalking of the Naas-Glebe West gas pipeline some 2km south of Punchestown, a long, low mound considered to have a possible archaeological potential was noted running right across the pipeline corridor. It was tested by mechanical slit trenching which revealed that it was simply a rock outcrop.
