A watching brief was carried out due to topsoil stripping ahead of the extension of a quarry situated between two scheduled earthworks, 8km west of the city of Armagh.
A stone-filled feature was uncovered, and two sections were cut. It consisted of a slightly curving 9m-long cut, square in section and varying from 0.5m to 1.5m in width. It was 0.75m deep, its fill consisting of a mixture of sandy clay and peat, sealed by stones, up to 0.3m long, in sandy loam. In places it appeared to be flanked by a gully, 0.6m wide and 0.3m deep, with similar fills, though the sandy loam was the lower fill and the peat/clay mixture containing the stones was the upper fill. There were no finds.
