Four test pits were hand dug in the property to the rear of the premises at 60 North Main St., Wexford. The results were similar in each. The upper layers exposed constituted a series of yard surfaces which overlay an area of cobble. This was over a layer of crushed green slate, possibly derived from house demolition. These surfaces overlay a homogenous deposit of alluvial silt. No finds earlier than a sherd of post-medieval Buckley Ware were recovered.
