Monitoring of service trenches and areas being prepared for planting around the New Visitors' Centre has been funded by the Office of Public Works. The following features and finds have been recovered - an iron smelting furnace, with spreads of charcoal and deposits of slag were located to the south of St Kieran's National School at the base of the esker and a number of pits with cut antler, iron fragments and slag were located to the west of the Centre while part of a rotary quern was found in the Steeple Garden.
