Archaeological testing was undertaken in advance of road construction. This site had been partly levelled by drainage in the recent past so that surface indications were slight and difficult to interpret. Test trenching identified concentrations of heat-shattered stones and extensive deposits of burnt material, together with some portions of timber. Full archaeological excavation was recommended.
