Excavation was undertaken over a two-week period in September 1993. Funding was arranged by Professor G.F. Mitchell and provided by Trinity College, Dublin.

The site lies within an early medieval farm complex. An area measuring 8m x 2m was excavated.

The basal remains of a stone corn drying kiln were uncovered. Drains were constructed in its base to keep the possible drying chamber dry. It appears to be of similar size and shape to the probably 10th-century AD example that survives to a better extent further west on the same headland. C14 samples have been submitted for analysis and a date of 934 + 110 AD was returned from charcoal in the base of a drain in the kiln.
