The site occupies an area measuring 25m east-west by 55m north-south at the north-east corner of the junction of Ormond Quay Lr. and Swift's Row. The eastern and northern edges of the site were occupied by standing buildings and unavailable for assessment.

The area is shown on maps dating up to the late 17th century, as being occupied by the river and suggests the area was not reclaimed until after the Amory Grant allowed a new quay to be built here.

A single 38m long north-south trench was dug in the site. Subsoil occurred at between 2.7m and 3.2m below modern ground level and was overlain by dumped material containing 17th-century finds which underlay cellars.

As expected this shows that the area was not reclaimed until the later 17th century.
