The site occupies an area measuring 70m east-west by 60m north-south at the north-east side of the junction of Infirmary Rd. and Montpelier Hill.

Assessment was carried out on 22nd April when three trenches forming a "H" plan were excavated to subsoil by mechanical excavator.

Subsoil was reached at between 0.2m and 0.4m below modern ground level. All features and deposits uncovered related to the modern activity or to the now demolished buildings, which are shown occupying the site on recent Ordnance Survey maps.

The site appears to be of no archaeological significance.
