This consisted of an examination of the foundation trenches for the proposed new development.
On the whole, the natural sandy gravel occurred at a high level, except where disturbed. This disturbance was due to both the foundations of the previous buildings and the presence of pits which, judging from the quantity of animal bone, may relate to the fact that there were slaughterhouses in the area in the 19th century.
Nothing of archaeological interest noted.
