Archaeological monitoring of a foundation trench for a new building in the rear yard of Templemacateer House, Horseleap, was necessitated by its close proximity to the 'site of Abbey' as marked on the 19th-century O.S. maps and on the earlier Down survey maps of the area which identified the abbey as a 'Chapel of Ease'. Monitoring took place in early January 1992 but no features or finds of any archaeological significance were identified. Funding was provided by the landowner.
