Trial excavations funded by the OPW took place in December 1992. Three trenches were opened, one in the chancel and one in each of the enclosed areas between the chapel and cathedral. It is envisaged that larger scale excavations will take place during 1993 and it is hoped to provide a full summary in the next volume of Excavations.
