A total of 4 test trenches ranging in length from 9.8m north- south to 30m east-west were cut into boulder clay on the site of a proposed extension to the modern Carragh Graveyard. The present day graveyard lying to the west of the extension was formed in recent times but a circular enclosure to the north was thought to have medieval origins. The trenches, which had a maximum depth of 1.5m, did not recover any archaeological material and the development was allowed to proceed.
