A number of test trenches were cut into the limestone boulder day of the site located 100m approx west of a manor house established by Archbishop Comyn in 1181. The site appeared to have formed part of the grounds of the succeeding residence known as 'Springmount' and the trenches did not reveal any archaeological remains.
