The area assessed was a vacant lot used as a carpark. The evidence from trial trenching showed that the construction and subsequent demolition of 18th- and 19th-century buildings removed any evidence of the first houses built here in the 17th century, and any earlier material associated with the medieval ecclesiastic enclosure of St Peter.
The site was cleared by the OPW for development to proceed.
