Three openings were made in a west-east line across the site, which was located immediately south of the Franciscan Abbey graveyard. Below between 0.4m (Cut 1 to west) and 1.4m (Cut 2) of modern fill was a black silty layer which varied in thickness from lm (Cut 1) to 0.3m (Cut 2). This contained animal bones and wood/wattle fragments (Cut 2 only). In Cut 3, to the east, where 0.8m of modern fill overlay the same black silty layer (0.6m thick), a single sherd of post-medieval brownware was recovered.
