Trial trenching took place prior to development in a field in which part of an enclosure had been situated, but which had been levelled c. 20 years ago. Only faint above ground traces of the monument remained, and the landowner remembered that his father had drawn much soil from the field after the site was levelled.

Four trenches were opened in the area where the building was to be situated, and a fifth in the septic tank area. In none of them was any material of archaeological interest noted. One trench crossed the fosse of the enclosure which had a maximum width of 2.7m and depth (below modern ground level) of 0.86m. It was U-bottomed. The fill consisted of relatively modern refuse. No trace of a remaining bank was noted.
