Two test trenches were opened on 24th September 1991 at a proposed development site within the medieval town. The site is bounded by the town wall/site of the town wall along the northern and western sides. The test trenches were opened in an open area at the rear of the site. No evidence of development in the medieval period (or later) was evident. Further investigation was envisaged during the construction phase but to date planning permission has not been granted.
